Tim Schafer, ce monsieur rigolo, est loin d’être un inconnu dans ma vie de gamer et la plupart du temps j’ai surkiffé ses productions (Monkey Island par exemple et plus récemment Brütal Legend). Et du coup, j’en attendais beaucoup de Stacking, un jeu qui semblait totalement innovant (on joue quand même des poupées russes mec !) et original.
On incarne donc Charlie Blackmore, la plus petite poupée put… russe, et on doit aller sauver notre famille du terrible baron. Pour cela, on doit compléter différents tableaux en résolvant des énigmes grâce aux compétences spéciales d’autres matriochkas que l’on s’accapare en s’emboitant avec elles. Oui vous avez compris… on s’emboîte avec les autres. Et ça devient limite crade quand c’est nos frères, nos soeurs, ou nos parents qu’on doit emboîter. Comment ça, mon esprit est foncedé ?
Là où c’est intéressant, c’est qu’il y a toujours plusieurs manières de résoudre les différentes énigmes. Le jeu regorge en plus de petits défis à réaliser avec des poupées russes spécifiques. Et puis c’est tout de même un jeu Double Fine, donc c’est bourré d’humour même si parfois je l’ai trouvé un peu lourd.
Un truc qui m’a totalement rebuté, ce sont les cinématiques faîtes à la façon des films muets : en noir & blanc, sans dialogues parlés et avec une musique d’accompagnement. Ca passe une fois mais tout le long du jeu, c’est quand même un peu chiant. Et pourtant, je suis friand des films du début du XXe siècle mais là…
Au final, je suis peut être passé totalement à côté de l’intérêt de Stacking mais le fait est que je n’ai pas accroché à ce jeu et par conséquent je n’ai pas eu envie de l’explorer de fond en comble (notamment pour réussir les différents défis ou de résoudre de différentes manières les énigmes). Je l’ai trouvé très répétitif et plat. Pourtant sur le papier y’avait des bonnes idées et ça avait l’air drôle… mais pour une fois, ça n’a pas fonctionné avec moi. Et puis en plus, elle est où la superbe musique qu’il y avait dans le trailer ?
