Hotline Miami est un jeu ultra violent « cooké » par Dennaton Games et edité par Devolver Digital. On peut le sniffer sur PC, Macintosh, PlayStation Vita, et le PlayStation Network.
Imaginez un jeu vidéo qui puise directement son « trip » parmi GTA, Scarface, Drive, Usual suspects, avec même quelques soupçons de Renegade et de Retour vers le futur (la dolorean !) ou même Old Boy. Le tout sous une direction artistique totalement sous acide et avec des musiques électro incroyables des années 80. Vous avez les ingrédient pour votre « dose »… Voici ce qu’est Hotline Miami.
Allo ?! Que puis-je pour vous ?!
L’histoire du jeu ? On ne peut plus simple, vous incarnez Jacket un personnage un peu cinglé qui obéit à une « hotline » qui le somme de tuer des gens qu’il ne connait pas, et c’est exactement ce que vous devrez faire durant tout ce putain de jeu ! Vous décrochez le téléphone, vous hallucinez, vous tuez, vous vous barrez. Ceci jusqu’à l’overdose ! Le gameplay est simple mais ultra bien calibré et efficace. Vous pouvez utiliser toutes les armes qui traînent dans les bâtiments, ou simplement vos mains, pour dézinguer tout ce qui bouge. Les portes des différentes pièces servent à vous cacher ou à fracasser le crâne de ce petit enculé qui se trouve derrière. Les armes peuvent être lancées ou utilisées et échangées comme une femme dans un club un peu louche… Bref vous avez l’art et la manière de faire du massacre de masse. Le pire c’est que toutes ces actions prennent peu de temps avant d’être assimilées, deviennent naturelles et obéissent au doigts et à l’œil. C’est si simple de déchirer la gueule d’un type (ou de plusieurs !) que ça nous fait nous questionner. Première question qui vient à l’esprit : « Pourquoi doit-on tuer tous ces gens ? » et les réponses que nous donne le jeu sont toutes aussi dérangeantes que les questions. Hotline Miami est donc un titre qui n’est pas du tout politiquement correct. Si la violence – souvent gratuite – n’est pas votre truc, oubliez juste ce titre… bandes de pleureuses. Mais attention, ce jeu n’est pas facile, ces enfoirés d’ennemis sont ultra réactifs et feront preuve d’autant de pitié à votre égard que vous pour eux… Un seul petit connard qui arrive par derrière et vous êtes mort ! Pas de barre de vie, pas de cœurs, pas de temps de régénération non ça c’est pour les connasses !

Autre point sur le gameplay : votre personnage porte différents masque d’animaux. En début de mission vous choisissez le masque et vous pouvez foncer sur vos proies. Ces nombreux masques vous octroient différentes capacités et se débloquent en fonction de certaines actions. La re-jouabilité du titre et la dimension scoring est assez poussée. Vous pourrez recommencer toutes les saloperies de missions du jeu pour débloquer des bonus, des meilleurs scores, des masques, des armes ou même une fin différente. Vous recommencerez les niveaux afin de tuer rapidement (temps) , en masse (combo), avec classe (variation des meurtres) et de façon à suivre une sorte de plan de meurtre que vous avez en tête. Il s’agit également d’un véritable hommage envers ces films où les massacres sanglants de tout un régiment sont opérés par une seule personne. Ces films où la boucherie humaine fait parti du paysage et en devient presque normale. On tue tout le monde, avec toutes les armes possibles et imaginables. Armes à feu, tournevis, cordes de pianos, mains, pieds et même marteau ou ciseaux.. Le sang gicle, les cadavres fleurissent !
Les musiques du jeu, pour peu qu’on apprécie le délire électro/80’s, sont un pur bonheur. Elles sont variées, rythmées, immersives, efficaces et foutrement bien arrangées ! C’est un tel gonflage de slip que Hotline Miami fait parti de ces jeux ou l’écoute de la soundtrack est un passage rituel – voire obligatoire.
Des graphismes rétro (gros pixels et vue du dessus à la GTA 1 ou 2) et du gore pleinement assumé, le tout par le biais de couleurs démentes. C’est simple, le génie artistique crève l’œil et dans les deux sens du terme ! Comment rendre des couleurs injurieuses et psyché’ aussi harmonieuses entre elles tout en faisant en sorte qu’elles ne gâchent pas totalement l’expérience de jeu ? Pire, comment les apprécier ?! Le pari est miraculeusement gagné et c’était pas une mince affaire ! La touche graphique de ce jeu est vraiment, vraiment, mais alors VRAIMENT spéciale ! Tout le monde n’appréciera pas c’est sûr, mais elle tient le pari fou de nous fait rentrer dans l’univers complètement allumé et halluciné du titre. Quand on joue à Hotline Miami, on est comme sous drogue. Des couleurs nous explosent les yeux et on aime ça. Du putain de génie !
Si vous rêvez d’un jeu ou vous pouvez prendre un fusil à pompe et buter des fils de chien dans une discothèque avant même qu’ils aient le temps de voir votre gueule surgir de derrière une porte – pour le prix (8,5 € au lancement) – c’est ce putain de jeu que vous devez prendre ! Cependant il ne s’agit là que de la partie visible de ce jeu de massacre. Derrière cet aspect violent et halluciné le recul est de mise. Ça tombe bien car Hotline Miami va pas vous épargner les cas de conscience, les questions morales et éthiques. Bien au contraire…
Le jeu de 2012 pour moi, de loin…
Il a tout pour lui, et ce petit coté arcade, tellement plaisant fait qu’on y retourne encore bien souvent après l’avoir terminé une première fois. Comme quoi il est encore possible de sortir des jeux provoquant de bonne petite poussée d’adrénaline, comme au bon vieux temps.
