Après le succès colossal de GTA IV, un jeu qui marqua autant les esprits que son temps, Rockstar n’allait pas rester les bras croisés. Un an plus tard sortait en exclusivité sur Xbox 360, puis quelques mois après sur PS3 et PC, un DLC de GTA IV intitulé The Lost and Damned.
ROCK ‘N’ ROLL !!
L’histoire de GTA IV est, contrairement à ses prédécesseurs, plus sombre, plus adulte. La patte Rockstar est à son plus haut niveau, ce qui implique une narration hyper maîtrisée et un jeu qui en jette grave niveau graphismes. Ils ont fait fort en 2008 et avec leur première extension, ils en remettent une couche, afin de rappeler qui est le boss.
The Lost and Damned vous plonge ainsi dans la peau d’un biker, vice-Président du gang de motards/dealers des Lost : Johnny Klebitz. Alors qu’avec Nico Bellic, on avait assisté à l’ascension d’un homme seul dans cette ville immense, ici, le joueur sera témoin de l’explosion du gang des Lost. Une histoire basée sur l’amitié et les trahisons dans laquelle Rockstar s’attaquera à des sujets plus mâtures, comme à son habitude. Une fois de plus, l’intrigue est habilement maîtrisée, malgré quelques clichés bien souvent rattrapés par une mise en scène de qualité.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Comme tout GTA qui se respecte, le joueur avance dans l’histoire en acceptant les différentes missions proposées et indiquées sur la carte par la première lettre de « l’employeur ». Finir des missions permet de gagner de l’argent (utile après pour améliorer son équipement, pour manger, ou pour toute autre activité), et de débloquer de nouveaux contacts. De ce côté là, il n’y a aucune innovation. Mais pourquoi changer une recette quand celle-ci fonctionne déjà très bien depuis plusieurs épisodes ? Les nouveautés se trouvent évidemment dans l’accomplissement de ces missions.
Johnny fait parti d’un groupe de bikers et peut à n’importe quel moment appeler ses potes en renforts. Les combats n’en sont que renforcés et on finit par avoir l’impression de participer à une bataille rangée. Nos compagnons peuvent cependant mourir, ou s’ils survivent, gagnent de l’expérience, les rendant plus forts et plus résistants pour les batailles à venir. De nombreux clins d’œil, parfois un peu maladroits, font référence à l’histoire de Niko Bellic.
En dehors des missions, Johnny peut participer à des guerres de gangs afin d’imposer la puissance des Lost sur tout Liberty City. Et comme tout bon biker qui se respecte, il peut tailler la route avec ses bros : Clay et Terry. Ainsi le joueur a toujours cette impression de faire réellement partie d’un gang de bikers. Quelques nouvelles armes font également leur apparition ainsi qu’une nouvelle fonctionnalité : celle de pouvoir tirer au fusil à canon scié quand on conduit sa moto. Terriblement rock ‘n’ roll !

GTA IV – The Lost and Damned n’est pas qu’une extension comme on a l’habitude d’en voir et que l’on peut plier en deux heures grand maximum. Il s’agit d’un jeu entier, complet, qui trace un nouveau destin dans Liberty City. Car si vous ne le saviez pas encore, le véritable héros de GTA IV n’est autre que la ville elle-même. Et ses citoyens, perdus au milieu de celle-ci, avancent dans leur vie malgré les difficultés rencontrées.
Rockstar aurait pu proposer la même ville sans aucun apport. Mais ce serait mal les connaître. De nouvelles émissions de télé, de nouvelles radios, de nouvelles musiques (une cinquantaine quand même dont du bon gros métal bien bourrin… FUCK YEAH), de nouveaux sites internet voient le jour. Liberty City a évolué et ça se sent. Ce n’est pas qu’une simple repompe d’un système qui a marché. C’est là que l’on voit que les développeurs de Rockstar sont perfectionnistes et qu’ils ont voulu apporter pas mal de nouveautés. Pour résumer, il s’agit d’un DLC pas très cher, avec une durée de vie conséquente. Bref un DLC qui fait bien plaisir !

The Lost and Damned est un jeu d’action à découvrir absolument et encore plus si vous aimez l’univers de GTA IV. L’histoire est bien racontée, très plaisante et l’action est encore plus démesurée qu’avec Niko Bellic. Rockstar nous donne avec cette extension l’envie d’enfourcher la première Harley Davidson venue et de tailler la route comme de vrais bikers.
